Data Bundles
Rabbit-chewed poplar branches, landscape installation (2021)
These images are born from collaborative discussions with particle physicists through the Leaning Out of Windows project. The pieces came as a response to what I heard about the search for the invisible forces that affect dark matter. I collected Aspen branches that wild rabbits had chewed the bark from and bundled them together to represent the collection of strands of data that particle physicists work or nibble on and collect. The branches are installed on rare and delicate ice formations in the boreal forest to reflect the rare and perfect conditions needed to detect dark matter.
