My practice is built around gestures toward the land where I live and careful observation of the responses that follow. I am a guest living on treaty 8 territory – the traditional land of the Beaver, Cree, Métis and Dene people. I live on a section of regenerating forest that was clear cut approximately 20 years ago.

Each project that I undertake begins as a kind of echo of phenomena that I observe. I try to embody moments on the land as a way of learning. These gestures sometimes take the form of sculptures made with materials found in the forest, different forms of writing on and with the land, as well as lens-based work. The responses that come from the land and other entities are the most significant aspect of the work. I am presenting the residue of encounters. I am devoted to exploring various experiences of time, as well as how this relates to political, historical and ecological concerns.
