Cut Poplar + rabbit chewed branches (2024-Ongoing)
This is an ongoing series of installations at sites where human made cuts (mostly by this human!) interrupt the bodies of aging/decomposing poplar trees. In the process of gathering firewood I often check trees that have recently fallen in a high wind to see if the wood inside has begun to rot. The hard lines of my investigative cuts remain for years after they are made. I place these rabbit-chewed branches in the empty space as a way of acknowledging my disturbance. I am also making a gesture that hopes to fill this space with accumulated thought/time from the work of the rabbits in an effort to rebuild or reconstitute.
